Horus Pharma joins MedFrance

Horus Pharma announces that it has joined MedFrance, a new trade association aimed at better representing SMEs and mid-market companies in the pharmaceutical sector involved in the European production of essential and established treatments. Driven by the members of AMLIS and several pharmaceutical companies, including Biocodex, Opella and UPSA, this initiative aims to bring industry players together around a common goal: to consolidate health and industrial sovereignty in France and across Europe.

A collective effort to improve access to care

Against a backdrop of supply chain pressures, an ageing population and the rise in chronic diseases, essential and established medicines play a central role in patient care pathways.

Ensuring their availability is now a major public health challenge. By joining MedFrance, Horus Pharma is part of a collective effort to secure access to treatments, whilst actively engaging with public authorities to balance continuity of care, the sustainability of healthcare spending and industrial constraints.

Bringing together committed stakeholders across the region

MedFrance brings together around forty companies that share common characteristics: production mainly based in Europe, strong regional roots in France, and a commitment to promoting an industrial framework tailored to the specific characteristics of mature medicines.

This initiative addresses a key challenge: better recognising the strategic role of these treatments within healthcare systems and adapting regulatory frameworks so that they reflect their economic realities.

Priorities for developing the sectoral framework

In this context, MedFrance intends to pursue several key priorities:

• promoting differentiated regulation between mature medicines and innovative products
• further integrating territorial and environmental criteria into pricing and taxation policies
• strengthening vigilance regarding the impact of regulatory standards on SMEs and mid-cap companies
